The Dashboard offers a number of views that describe the status of your knowledge base service

Note: most Dashboard functionality is only accessible by staff users (those with ADMIN or CONTENT_EDITOR)

Summary View

The summary view gives a high-level overview of your knowledge base service.

Dashboard Summary Example

Account Information

As you can see from this example, the type of account is shown, along with the Account UUID (which may be needed for interacting with the API Gateway for example). Depending upon the account type selected, you may also have Design Customization options enabled, which is also displayed here.

If you have ACCOUNT role permission, you may also see a button with a link taking you to the accounts portal, where you can change various account settings.

Your Assigned Roles

To the right of the account information is a display containing your assigned Application Roles for the application (see the accounts portal to view your Account Roles)

As described in the User Roles article, staff can have a combination of ADMIN and CONTENT_EDITOR roles. Non-staff users will be shown as having a READER role.

Category and Article Summary

This displays the current number of categories and articles assigned to the knowledge base. If you click on, or hover over one of the bars, you will see a popup message providing more details, such as the numeric count as well as any limits that may be in place. For example if you have a maximum of 2,000 articles and 256 articles created, the popup might show "256 out of 2,000 articles created"

Storage Metrics

The Storage Metrics view allows you to see an overview of user storage allocation for your knowledge base service. This can be helpful when determining the correct account type that meets your current and future needs.

Storage Metrics Example

User Allocation

In the example show here, you can see the number of staff vs the number of non-staff users. Clicking on, or hovering over the bars will show more detailed information in a popup.

Percentage of Storage Used

This is often a helpful indicator giving you a simple display of the percentage of overall storage you have used and remaining for your currently selected account type. Remember that you change account types at any time in order to increase of decrease the amount of storage, articles, staff and other features that can be used.

Storage Types Summary

This is a breakdown of how the types of storage have been allocated within your knowledge base service. From the example shown here, it is clear that the number of uploads (images) for articles accounts for a large percentage of the overall storage utilization, compared with article attachments for instance. The Articles type indicates the amount of storage allocated by the articles themselves (article raw text and history, for instance).

Visitor Metrics

Visitor metrics can be used to visualize the number of visitors to your knowledge base, when they visit and also what search phrases they look for, providing valuable insight into their behavior and allowing your editors to create new content based on this information, for example if something is commonly searched for, but does not have any related articles.

As can be seen in this example, there are a number of different charts showing things like Popular Search terms, including a count of how often the term was searched.

In terms of site visits, there are a number of charts associated with displaying when visitors use your knowledge base, organized by Time of Day, Day of Week, Week of the Year and also by year, so that you can understand these trends to better serve your customers.

Note that visitor metrics are only enabled on certain account types, so please ask your account administrator to enable this feature by upgrading the account type if this functionality is needed.
